Produced 100% from Nebbiolo grapes from the fog entrenched hills of Alba and aged a minimum of 3yrs in oak, Barolo has long been Italy’s most thought provoking and sought after wine. Shrouded in mystery, no other wine of Italy has been analyzed and studied as much. A great part of the study centers around the variation in styles of the wines among the varied Communes/” Crus” (i.e. vineyard sites) of Barolo. The variations stem from diverse soils and exposures present in unimaginably small distances. This tasting is intended to provide you an entry into an area of unlimited study. Three wines are provided from different communes of Barolo, all from traditional styled producers, in order to attempt to analyze differences in the wines created by their individual soils and exposures (“terroir”).
